Maria - Thank you, Maria. I agree with you. We need to be doing a lot more to get people food who need it. It's completely ridiculous at how much good food gets thrown out. A lot of times it's even unopened. People just decide that they don't want it. It's disgusting. We are disgusting.

I like that someone -actually- went forth to write about how they felt. The fact is most north americans might say that they care and what not, but when it comes down to the big picture, we usually brush it off because well, "it's not like we are the ones in trouble"

Speaking of food, if only we didn't waste the tanks of food, perhaps we would be on a better level. For example so many fruits and veggies are thrown out simple because they do not meet a certain criteria of 'looks' I mean, does it really matter if the pear... doesn't look like pear? Instead of throwing it out, perhaps we should give it to people who need it.

Anyways, the point is, I enjoyed reading your write up. Lol.

Shawno - Thanks for bringing up the point about food waste. I wanted to bring that up in this entry but I honestly forgot about it. I was thinking about it while I was in the shower. I really need to start taking a recorder with me to the shower so I can record all of those things. But then. If I'm talking, I doubt ideas would flow freely into my mind! Anyways. We do waste, SO much. That's why I try my best to save as much food as I can and eat on it for several days. Probably not helping the planet much. But I guess someone has to do it. Food is expensive to begin with. I don't care if you're talking about healthy food or food that's bad for you. It's all expensive!

It's tough, beating back the consumerism bug. And speaking of all these starving babies everywhere, the thing that gets me about America and our food habits is the waste. How much food do we throw away every day? Just 'cause it's a day old?
